What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a natural form of health care that uses spinal adjustments to correct these misalignments and restore proper function to the nervous system, helping your body to heal naturally. Chiropractic doesn't use drugs or surgery. Rather, a chiropractic spinal adjustment - the application of a precise force to a specific part of the spinal segment-corrects the misalignment, permitting normal nerve transmission and assisting your body to recuperate on its own.
No part of your body escapes the dominance of your nervous system. Improper function of the spine due to slight misalignments - called subluxations - can cause poor health or function, even in areas far removed from the spine and spinal cord itself. Misalignments can also reduce the ability of your body to adapt to its ever-changing environment. Even the slightest malfunction of your spine may alter the regular transmission of nerve impulses, preventing that portion of your body from responding optimally.
3 Phases of Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic addresses core physiological and biomechanical aspects of your body in 3 phases. The process of correcting problems without drugs or surgery can take some time. Some conditions can be treated in a few visits while others may take a longer duration.
First Phase - Relief Care
In the first phase, the main objective is to reduce your discomfort and stabilize your condition in the minimum period of time. During this phase, the progress is usually rapid. The number of times you need to visit us during this period is dependent upon your specific condition. It could be as short as a week or up to a month.
Second Phase - Corrective Care
Once your condition has stabilized, we need to correct any underlying injury or cause of discomfort, strengthen the muscles, and improve the neuromusculoskeletal function. The frequency of your health visits is reduced over a period of 2 to 6 weeks.
Care may be supplemented by rehabilitation exercises, nutrition, and modification of daily habits. Once your discomfort has subsided, you may think all is well and abandon your efforts. If you stop your care
before being fully healed, you can have a relapse.
Third Phase - Wellness Care
The wellness phase is designed to maintain your improved health, encourage normal spinal function, prevent the return of the original condition and other small problems before they become serious.
A personal wellness care program will be designed where we teach you how to incorporate good nutrition and exercise habits into your everyday life. It'll promote vitality, endurance, and the ability to enjoy your life to the fullest.
